[Committee] Room usage compaint

I expect it is probably a politics thing - RSM want an excuse to withdraw room rights and we are being made the scapegoats, despite rectifying our error of Tuesday as James promised we would - otherwise that should have been the end of the matter. In any case, I am working on speaking to Henry about the complaints, and James is working on an apology as requested - then we have it for when we need it. Best thing is to pray for wisdom, understanding and gracious attitudes :)

Clearly we do need to send an apology, seeing as they’re feeling strongly enough to threaten to stop room bookings…  Maybe they didn’t come in and confront us, but were stopped from doing what they planned to because we cut it so close to 2?   It would be good to know the complaints if possible, but in the end they’re letting us use their building, so we should probably kowtow.

Can we ask for clarification, ask to see what the actual complaints were about and so we can work out how the best way to respond is. We should probably also explain the situation to the union, what you said James. But if they want us to send them an apology I don't think we have much option (even if we don't need to). But would be good to see what the complaints we actually about first?

I'm a bit confused since this email asks us to confirm whether we were using a room last weekend. We weren't, but I assume that's a typo.

Yes, we overran by a couple of minutes on Monday and Tuesday. There wasn't actually anything going on in those rooms, as far as I was aware, but we shouldn't have gone over. A lady shouted at me about it on Tuesday, so I apologised in person then. On Thursday and Friday we didn't overrun.

Shall we put together an apology?

Regarding the email below. I'm not aware that we overran on any day, we were definitely tight but I didn't think we actually affected anything. Though I do remember the day when someone from the department spoke to us, but the room wasn't used afterwards that day. James, what exactly did she say?

We have had complaints of you overrunning your room bookings in G01 affecting the teaching and lectures of students in the department. Can you please write an apology addressed to the Materials students and lecturers for the impact caused by your sessions over running.

Please be aware that your misuse of rooms effects all students groups and this department are threatening to revoke the union ability to book rooms.

Can you please confirm whether you were using a room last weekend?
