Dear Friend,

It’s almost the start of the autumn term at Imperial and the Christian Union are planning another year packed full of events to give every Imperial student the chance to hear the gospel! The new committee are already deep in preparations for the year ahead and we are excited to hit the ground running on September 30th, helping freshers move into their new homes. During freshers’ week, we hope to meet heaps of new members through the Freshers’ Fair and aim to reach people from all backgrounds and worldviews at our Skeptical lunch-bars and International Afternoon Tea. As always, our primary goal for Freshers’ Week and throughout the rest of the year is to share the life-bringing message of Jesus with our fellow students.

With many events planned in the coming weeks, we do have expenses in order to reach the students of Imperial with the gospel in generous, hospitable and creative ways. We will need to cover the cost of food for lunch-bars and washing-up liquid bottles (with a timetable of our events attached to them) to hand out at the fair, among other expenses. This brings us to the reason for this email. The CU depends on donations from supporters in order to provide the means to run our events. We seek to run high-quality events and outreach as a CU, showing genuine care for the students of Imperial, and to do this we need your help. We would like to ask you, if you don’t already, to consider donating to the CU or including us in your regular giving. Raising sufficient funds would mean we are able to continue faithfully serving our friends and fellow students, reaching as many as possible with the gospel at Imperial.

Practically speaking, our fundraising target for freshers’ week is £565. This will cover the cost of:

  * 4 Club Missions (serving tea & biscuits, looking after our peers at large Union Bar events)

  * Freshers Fair outreach (Cookie for a Question, publicity and washing-up bottles)

  * Afternoon tea for international students

  * Hangover Breakfast (outreach following Sports Night)

  *   3 Skeptical lunch-bars

In the past few weeks CU members have raised £250 towards this goal, but we are seeking help to reach the total of our fundraiser so that we can continue to reach students at Imperial for Christ. A gift of £5 would host a few guests at a Skeptical lunchbar, £30 would enable us to host the afternoon tea and £60 would cover the cost of one lunch-bar. Would you be able to partner with us and sponsor one of our Freshers’ Week Events? To find out how to donate, please visit www.iccu.co.uk/give<http://www.iccu.co.uk/give>

University is a key time for people to consider worldviews outside their own and ask questions about faith. We are so grateful for your support up to now, both in prayer and practically, that has helped people ask those big questions and equipped CU members to be able provide answers and reach people in all corners of the campus. Thank you being a dedicated member of the Christian Union during your time studying at Imperial. Your commitment was instrumental in getting the Gospel heard at Imperial – we’re sure you have great memories of being a part of the CU!

We would love to keep you updated and involved with the goings on of ICCU and our mission at Imperial, and look forward to sending you our newsletter with news of how Freshers’ Week goes!

God bless,

The ICCU Committee
