Hi Everyone,
Praise God for a refreshing summer! This month some of us have had the opportunity to attend the UCCF Forum conference, which has made us ready and excited for another year of bringing the gospel to Imperial College.
Every year a multitude of freshers arrive at Imperial College, from many countries across the world as well as from within the UK. Amongst them are Christians who we hope can join us in mission as a Christian Union, whereas there are many students who may have never heard the Gospel before.
At the end of last year, many of our members left Imperial and moved on to the working world. It was sad to see them go and their absence has left a large gap in our number. We are praying that we will be joined by enough freshers that love Jesus and are excited to share his news on campus to replenish or even increase our numbers.
We have many events planned to help people on campus discover who Jesus is and would very much appreciate your support for our mission in prayer. We are praying that as we give out refreshments during the freshers' events at the student union God will give us confidence as we talk to people about Christ.
The events are summarized below:
Club Mission (1st/2nd/5th Oct) place CU members in a position to serve, befriend and engage freshers attending social sessions at the college bar. At Freshers’ Fair (5th Oct) the CU will be running a booth. Please pray for us as we engage new members and invite people to our events and lunch bars. The Hangover Breakfast (6th Oct) aims to care for freshers the morning after Sports Night. These events enable us to be a light to certain communities within Imperial and opens up opportunities to share Christ through conversation. Please pray that we will have a good turn out and many people will be open to hearing the gospel.
"Skeptical" (5/6/7th Oct) is our main lunchbar wherein people can listen to a talk about Christianity and have questions answered over a free lunch. These events aim to get people thinking about Christianity as they start their university year, while serving as a platform where people can discuss their thoughts on the faith. Please pray for the friends that we invite and our speakers as they tackle difficult topics about our faith and answer questions.
The International Afternoon Tea (5th Oct) aims to welcome with freshers new to the UK. Through building relationships and sustained engagement through the Globe Cafe for internationals run throughout the year, we hope to bring them to knowledge of Christ. Please pray that the international students who join us will be made to feel welcome and loved. Pray also for the students who attended Globe Café last year, that they would feel ready to take another step towards the Christian Faith and consider joining the church.
At our first "HUB" CU Meeting (6th Oct) of the year we will welcome Christian freshers to the CU and be encouraged together for mission this academic year. Pray especially for our new members, that they would feel welcomed into the CU inspired to get stuck into sharing the gospel among their friends.
While it seems far away, we will also be hosting our Annual Carol Service this term. We hope that through that many people will hear God's word and understand what Christmas is truly about. Please pray for Jonty Allcock who will be giving the message in the service and our publicity team who will be advertising the event.
Finally, the running of events during this week as well as the length of the year requires much time, effort and finances. We ask for your prayers for God’s provision of sufficient funding to run outreach events throughout the year. We have been greatly blessed with resources and helpers in previous years so please pray that there would continue.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We truly value your interest and support for the CU and our mission at Imperial.
God bless,

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
