Hi all,

Josh Fountin has managed to track down some electronic copies of the Student Alpha leaders guides and course notes.

I forgot to mention in the committee meeting that we will most probably make a final decision about the follow up course when we meet at Forum. This leaves us all most of the summer to look into each of the follow up courses, as well as pray about this.
Please spend a good amount of time doing this, as this is an important & tricky decision. If we can do it properly, then we can recommend our choice of follow-up course to subsequent committees.

Some useful pointers:

make notes of positives and negatives for Alpha, CE and Bitesize.

bear in mind difference between format and content. We can always play around with format, but content is what's important.

We're looking for an evangelistic course, so worth asking the following questions about all the courses:

Is the course content biblical in its emphasis on the character of God, the nature of sin, the centrality of the cross and the gift of the Holy Spirit?

How clearly does the course content convey that Christian assurance is solely in Christ's atoning sacrifice?

Does the course content clearly come across as targeted at non-Christians?

Thanks for sending out the link Josh. If you can get any copies of the Alpha study guide (printed booklet or electronic) that would be really helpful?

Please all have a look at the Christianity Explored study guides as well if you're not familiar with CE. There are several in the CU cupboard in Beit quad. Probably best if you don't take them away indefinitely. You're all on the key list
