Hey Guys
Some people expressed interest in hearing the rest of J John's Christmas talk, here it is: http://www.philotrust.com/shop/viewproduct/91
Also the question of what makes a good speaker was raised earlier. Traditionally the CU always uses the stock answer "someone who remains faithful to the Gospel" which I find a little ridiculous as we shouldn't even be thinking about getting a speaker who wouldn't be faithful to the Gospel and it doesn't help narrow things down at all (after all the 'turn or burn' street preachers are preaching the Gospel aren't they?).
Anyway, my thoughts are that for the Carol service we want a speaker who can engage the audience and get them thinking, get them interested and wanting to find out more about Jesus. Humour seems to work well at Imperial cause it's very contrasted to how lectures are, but ultimately I think a good Carol Service speaker is one who can meet people where they're at and get them asking questions.
Enjoy, and please do email me if you have any thoughts on speakers for the Carol Service.
Thanks
Josh
