Hi,

Current situation: About 5 church workers have agreed to partner with us as we go out to approach international students using questionnaires to build a contact base. The church workers will also help as we facilitate table discussions and they will give talks during lunchtime (12-2pm) on a weekly basis for three weeks in October. The room we’re thinking of booking is SAF Building Room 121/122. And the tentative day is either Thu (so 13, 20 and 27 Oct) or Fri (so 14, 21 and 28 Oct).

Here are some issues/topics that have been proposed under the theme “Get a life!” –
- Loneliness
- Making friends with locals
- Christianity in UK
- Conflict management
- Adjusting to new culture
- Things to do in uni/UK
- Purpose of uni life
- Adjusting to cold weather

N.B.: Some of these talks can easily be turned into evangelistic talks.

Just bouncing thoughts off each other and gathering some feedback drawing from your experience. I’m just thinking, what do you think we can do to attract international students to come for our talks? What thing or what service will be really useful to them as freshers, such that they will really value it when we provide it for them? For example, for myself, it was things like being told where to get groceries, where the cheap-eats are, being helped with getting duvets, mobile line, being taught how to cook etc. What are your thoughts?

Please keep praying for this event, that more international students at Imperial will come to know Christ this year.

Thanks.

Yours in Christ,
Joel Boon
