[Committee] summer notices - church tours

Hey guys,

I finished my exams 4 weeks ago, so for me it feels like I've been on holiday a long time. I realise term actually only finished last week, so maybe it's too early to do notices. Sorry, but as Nath pointed out to me, I think we should leave this till start of August.

If you need to contact people in the CU, go ahead and email, ring, telegraph or pigeon mail them individually.

Zim

I was hoping to get an e-mail out asking people to help with church tours, something like this (if it's too long, it can be shortened):

As a CU, we think it would be a good idea to do church tours for the first few weeks of term (depending on how many people help). This is how it works - there will be a rota of cu members and churches and we'll make this information available to freshers. Typically, you go to the Queens Tower at the arranged time on a Sunday and wait for freshers to turn up. Take them to church (talk to them on the way, you can even plug the cu if you like ;-) and introduce them to people you think they'd get along with. Then take them back to college (or you can show them the way home if that's better).

Christian freshers will have it in their minds that they need to find a church, but they may not know any. Church tours simply aim to help them try a couple and then they should decide which one they will stay at. This way, they:
Go to a church that is right for them,
Get introduced to a number of other students at church (which is really good for shy people),
Get to meet plenty of people from the cu, having spent a journey from college to church and back again with a member of the cu for a few weeks.

This is good for churches, good for freshers, and good for the cu, so everybody's happy. John's going to get church tours organised, so if you are willing to bring freshers to your church at the beginning of next year (who wouldn't jump at the chance to bring people to church?), please send him an e-mail at john.raftery08 at imperial.ac.uk telling him:
What church you go to,
When the service starts at your church,
Which Sunday mornings / evenings you'll be available (you probably won't have to do all the dates you give, but it helps organisation if you offer several dates),
Your e-mail address and mobile number.

Thanks!

ps: Nathan - do you want to say anything about church tours?

Is there anything you guys would like emailed to the CU as a whole? Let's try and keep it to an absolute minimum.

I was wanting to ask the CU to email me any ideas of topics or talk titles they would like to see at Impact next year.

Zim

PS Joe would you be able to do the email to the CU?
